Web Design Standards

For all of our website and business applications, where possible, we develop according to the standards set by the industry.

Browser Issues

Historically the internet has evolved devoid of any web design standards and the plethora of internet browsers that have been developed has resulted in problems for code developers who need to build web pages and sites that can be access by all. To address this and many other problems, standards bodies, such as The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C.) have worked for many years to establish a coherent set of technical standards that can be applied and used across the internet in the design of web sites and business applications.

Unfortunately, even with standards in place, there are still many different interpretations of the standards being applied to browser design and development, but the situation has, and still is improving considerably and developers can now confidently build websites in the knowledge that there are few differences between the different internet browsers and their code will present their web pages consistently across all web browser platforms.

Cost Management

Cross browser consistency is not the only benefit that can be accrued from using building websites and pages to stringent web design standards. Development and ongoing maintenance costs can be substantially reduced when websites are designed and written to a consistent set of standards This is because standards written code is easier to modify and so it reduces the reliance on the original developers of the code for its maintenance.

Furthermore, should you wish to make a change to your website that could affect all web pages, such as a change in your marketing brand or image, the use of well designed, structured and implemented standards would reduce the costs associated with changeing your website to accomodate such changes.

Standards Applied

Through the application of web design standards 4vente ensures that you receive these benefits for your business. The main standards that we apply and adhere those that apply to XHTML and CSS and further information on each of these standards can be found at the links provided.

We ensure that these standards are adhered in our development processes by using a powerful IDE (interactive development environment) that applies and chacks the coding is written to the appropriate standards. Validation of these standards is then achieved through the use of freely available validators provided by the W3C for each of the standards applied. For example, select the link to validate this Web Design Standards page.
